S8300 Media Server
An S8300 Media Server is a blade that can be installed in a G700, G450, G350 or G250 Media Gateway to operate as a standalone system or as an LSP (Local Survivable Processor) in a remote Media Gateway connected to a central Media Server.
An S8300 stand alone system used in a G700 Gateway can also be configured with a second S8300 server as a backup processor in a Local Survivable Processor (LSP) mode.
A remote Media Gateway can be configured with an S8300 blade an appropriate software license to act as an LSP to maintain system operation in the event that the WAN connection to a centralised Media Server is lost. During normal operation of the system, an automatic process copies translation changes on the primary controller to the LSP to keep it in step so that the LSP is always current if a changeover occurs.
The S8300 Server/Gateway system can be configured with RAM disk whereby a portion of the S8300 memory is used as a disk partition. In the event of a hard disk failure, the S8300 Media Server uses only RAM disk to provide call processing for up to 72 hours. During this period, system administration and backups are prohibited. Also, Intuity Audix Messaging is unavailable during a hard disk failure, so secondary call coverage points for users should be administered, even with the RAM disk enabled.
The S8300 also contains an optional IA770 voicemail application.
